But because sometime in a future existence we may be called up on to justify the things we did in this life, here are some of the facts that make possible the video you’re about to see. The snake is the creation of the Titanoba project, which is attempting to recreate the project’s namesake,  a 50-foot, 1-ton beast  that slithered on earth 60 million years ago. Then the world was 6 to 8 degrees warmer than today, and it was only in that sheltering climate that the cold-blooded beast could reach such a monstrous size. The project is bringing the creature back to mechanical life as an omen about the results of climate change. “This giant electrotechnical reincarnation will roam the earth terrifying and enlightening those who dare to ride the snake along the razor’s edge between hope and fear and contemplate the future of our planet,” according to the site’s blog. Initial construction took place during the summer months of 2011at the Great Northern Way campus near Vancouver, where students have already constructed the giant Mondo Spider.  Titanoba made a cameo appearance at this year’s Burning Man. The machine, consisting of heavy metal ectoskeletons, motors, and circuitry for each section, continues to be developed.  But you don’t have to wait to see it in action.  Just click the video.
