Star of The Real Housewives of Potomac, Monique Samuels and Candiace Dillard Bassett, have both of their assault charges dismissed. Monique and Candiace are known to viewers as being complete hot heads with tempers to match so they are relieved to know that neither women will be prosecuted after their physical dispute.
The two aggressive housewives had been two peas in a pod when Dillard had become a member of the cast in the third season. However, in season 4, their close sisterhood fell apart, but both women seemed to patch up their feud during the reunion back in September of 2019. The two yelled and cried it out, ending with a genuine hug between the two. Now, however, something has gone very wrong within their friendship thanks to another physical altercation. The incident happened on October 16th with the two ladies while filming with the other cast members at a dinner party for the next season of The Real Housewives of Potomac. It was alleged that Samuels grabbed Dillard by her hair and dragged her to the ground.
It seems that 2020 already brought about big changes for the Potomac housewives as the charges had been dropped against both Samuels and Dillard. People magazine reported that on Friday, December 27th, the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office had informed their respective lawyers that they would not be pursuing their complaints. Last November Dillard’s and Samuels’ accused one another of second-degree assault, and both filed complaints with the District Court of Montgomery County in Maryland.
The original incident occurred on October 16th, when the two reality stars were at a dinner that quickly escalated into a physical altercation. The Bravo film crew was also in attendance and was said to have caught the altercation on film. The decision by the State Attorney’s Office was made after representatives reviewed both complaints from the women and looked into the Bravo footage that was provided. The representatives even conducted interviews between the two women and numerous witnesses.
Luckily for the Bravo stars the charges were dropped as both faced potential jail time if they would have been convicted. If the women are not happy with the outcome, both have the option of filing a civil lawsuit against one another, but most fans think that they won’t as they have a new season of The Real Housewives of Potomac premiering this year. As both women are married, and Samuels’ three children, fans are sure these two women will be happy to be out of trouble now that the charges have been dropped.
