Consumers and followers are overwhelmed by the choices available to them. They need an expert to guide them or at least narrow down their choices.
This is how social media marketers and influencers have secured their space in the marketing realm. However, some marketing categories or niches are more profitable because there is a higher demand than others. Where influencers can opt for these niches, they absolutely should.
Niche marketing is a customized approach to marketing for a target audience with a specific area of interest. It is channelized marketing. The biggest benefit to this type of marketing is a comparatively lower level of competition in the smaller or more focused category of marketing.
However, you must be well-versed in the niche and able to customize your content for your niche market.
And if we are getting precious about the most profitable niches, why not be just as picky about our social media network.
Now research has shown that having a presence on all or most social media networks can be optimal, but primarily functioning on one or two preferred networks, is usually the norm and still highly rewarding. But I am here to tell you that the network of choice must be Instagram. So, who exactly can make money on Instagram?
– Influencers: Social media marketers, with a large enough following, can incentivize their activity on Instagram
– Brands: over 25 million business enterprises market and sell on Instagram
– Digital creators: commonly known as content creators that produce content such as videos, photos, graphics, and other forms of media.
My task is to simply state which niches play well with Instagram so you can customize your content for campaigns for the most lucrative niches, below:
1. Health and Fitness
Health and fitness are the twin sisters of the most lucrative Instagram niche for influencer marketing and this makes complete sense. There has been an incremental rise in health, fitness, and well-being in the past decade and this interest is still growing.
People take their health and fitness more seriously as a greater number of inspirational and success stories make their way on social media networks. Health awareness shows on TV have also advocated for the growth in this niche, with Dr Oz advising people in the comfort of their homes on medical and health issues, to make over shows giving us a glimpse into how to achieve our best selves. The market is saturated with weight loss products, eating plans, fitness programs and apps, fitness gurus, and the like.
This niche is ideal for:
● Nutritionists
● fitness trainer
● anyone with an interest in health and fitness with useful advice, tips, and tricks
Because this niche is so broad, niching down is necessary. This is when you further break down the niche and the niche target audience, by tailoring your area of expertise and content. For example, weight loss for women is still too broad a niche within this niche. Break it down by offering content for home exercises for women over 55, who want to lose 5 pounds. This applies to any broad niche.

2. Beauty
Beauty is not as huge a niche market as one would think. Yet it has taken the world and the internet by storm. With plenty of beauty influencers, specialists, and celebs crowding the market, it seems to continue expanding, making room for more.
Now it helps if you are attractive to represent this niche or yourself as a beauty expert. People are usually looking for the following beauty content:
● Tutorials
● Product reviews
● Before and After type content
● Beau tips and tricks and hacks
● Trends
3. Fashion
Fashion and beauty, to some, are synonymous. However, true blood fashionistas know that putting together the perfect ensemble is a stand-alone art form. So, if you have the passion and flair to present current fashion trends or transcend them with your own styling, go for it.
Anything seems to go in the world of fashion but remember who your target audience is. Most people are less interested in high-end fashion and are more interested in how they can use fashion to power dress, express themselves more eloquently, dress appropriately for their body type or for the season, travel wear, dress for events and parties, wedding fashion, and attire. The list is endless and this allows for niching down with ease, which increases your chances of being noticed.
4. Lifestyle
The lifestyle niche and content are transformative and therapeutic. It shows followers what they can achieve if they follow your certified methods. These may include content about micro habits that you adopt and that is documented through a series of videos to reveal the transformation that follows, to tips and tricks to achieve the home of your dreams or routine that promotes wellness, comfort, and beauty. This niche is unbelievably vast and can include:
● Shopping
● Décor
● Home improvements
● Daily routines
● Journalling
● Cooking
● Decluttering
● Minimalism
● Living in a mobile vehicle
● Veganism
The influencers that thrive in this niche are the tried and tested gang, who have lived the type of lifestyle being promoted and can direct and guide others to achieve this. The focus is on aesthetics and creating and expressing the desired feeling related to the lifestyle being promoted.
5. Business
It is all business at the end of the day but there are dedicated influencers who teach and inform others on how to make money online. Sharing their knowledge and nifty ways to make a part-time, full-time, or even passive income online is slowly gaining traction. Influencers offer courses with established techniques. Some offer a link for websites for followers to pursue on their own, equipped with the information they require.
The types of topics covered here would include:
● Affiliate marketing
● How to become an influencer
● Incentivized blog writing
● This type of niche is empowering
If you feel inspired to, or have an interest or expertise in any of the listed niches, give it a try on Instagram. With enough time and effort, you should be able to tap into the niche market and reap greater rewards. If you are already an influencer using one of the listed niches, you are well on your way. Customize your content by niching down, create more engaging campaigns, and don’t forget to interact with your followers. Engagement is vital and very possible on a platform such as Instagram. Be sure to measure your analytics, which Instagram is configured for.
If you are already an expert in a niche not mentioned in our top 5 best paying niches on Instagram or have chosen a niche that you have already put considerable work into, you should not close shop and pick up a new niche. You could incorporate a closely related niche from the list above or find ways of making your current choice lucrative. There are so many variables to consider in influencer marketing from tools to campaign strategies.
